Here is our first interview for Trenton Film Festival.
This is from Max Miecchi, who directed the film "The Last Penalty".
"What inspired you to become a filmmaker?"
"Watching "2001: A Space Odyssey" by Stanley Kubrick. I was a child and I discovered the magic of cinema. I've seen it more than 10 times. At the same theater, there were no DVDs in 1968."
"What made you decide to make this film?"
"Well, "The last penalty" was a short novel, that I wrote when I was 26 years old. At the time, I was working as engineer. The 29th April 2009 I had been diagnosed a brain tumor. I had two weeks before being successfully operated. Time enough to make myself some questions and to find my answers. So I started making music and cinema, and I found my right path. Two months later, reading my novel, I thought that the actual meaning of that story was totally different now. "The last penalty" speaks about this, even if it seems an innocent movie for teenagers."
"What do you hope audiences hope to gain from watching your film?"
"To learn living their lives without fear."
"Do you have any future projects that you are working on? If so what are they?"
"I wrote 3 feature movies. Mimulus (which will start next september), Decem and Cenere (Ashes). Great stories, that were waiting to be translated in a cinematographic language. Enough, for the next 3 years."
